Just in Time! {Valentine Freebie}

This past week I had the opportunity to see Dr. Tim Rasinski in Atlanta. We spent the day learning about creating fluent readers and I came away with so many new strategies!

I wanted to get started right away, so I created a fun Valentine freebie for my 3rd grade buds.

Not to worry, I’m working on a non-Valentine version for grades K-5 as you read this. 🙂 I should have it done by the end of the weekend. In the meantime, I hope this is something some of you can use!

    Sure! You can have the kids practice just the phrases, or you can use it as a "bang!" game. To play "bang!" put all of the cards in a canister – something the kids can't see into. Pass the canister around and have each student take one card at a time. If they read the phrase correctly and fluently, they can keep the card. If not, it goes back in the canister. I use this as a whole group activity when I have 10-15 minutes to kill, or in small strategy groups. If you need more information, let me know!
