Please do not mistake this post as a profession of my craftiness.
I can use clip art and fonts to make just about anything look cute. However, my “crafty gene” is somewhere lost in my DNA with my green thumb.
Anyhoo – when I found myself making some cutie-patootie things for my teaching partner’s baby shower, I knew I had to jump on the Monday Made It bandwagon while I could!! ๐
So, because I am missing the “crafty gene” I volunteered to find some fun shower games that we could play. See what I did there?
You know what I’m talking about.
The shower games.
I have had a love/hate relationship game with them.
I mean, there are only so many times I can look at a melted Milky Way in a diaper – right? ๐
Through a few of my fabulous bloggy friends, I happened upon The Ruby Spikes Guide to Hosting a Baby Shower That Doesn’t Suck. Now, we didn’t have a co-ed shower but these games would be fun whether the boys are there or not!
I was inspired by a few Google searches as well, but I came up with something I thought might be fun to share today!
The first thing I made was a game called “Who’s Your Mama?” The guests had to match up celebrity mamas and their babies! I even asked my friend to send over baby pictures of her, her husband, and their mamas. It was really fun to see everyone trying to put the baby mamas with the right kiddos. ๐ It was such a hit, I think I’m going to do it again for another friend who is having a boy. I think I’ll make that one a “Who’s Your Daddy?” edition just to change it up!
I also whipped up a sign for the diaper message station. I’m sure you’ve seen this before…
Late Night Love |
I bought a bunch of newborn diapers, a *new* set of fine point Sharpies, and a heart shaped basket. I put the Sharpies in a glass vase with light purple and clear stones. I even had a 50% off coupon for Michaels, so I got the markers for a steal! Lots of the blogs I read said you needed to use permanent fine point markers – the Crayola markers will rub off on the baby’s legs!
We also used purple ribbons and clothespins to hang up the diapers as people finished them. It was such a fun way to honor my friend and her sweet baby girl!
I know it’s not teaching related, but I did want to share the goodies I made with you. We work in buildings full of women! ๐
Click on the image above to download the Who’s Your Mama? PowerPoint – I made it editable so you can insert your own baby mama (or daddy) images!
You can also click on this image to get the Late Night Love printables. I included a “mama-to-be” and “parents-to-be” in case you’re hosting a co-ed shower. ๐
Hope this finds you savoring your summer vacation – I know I am!

Looks like you had a great time with the baby shower! We did something similar with the Late Night Love when my sister got married. We asked everyone to bring a bottle of wine and write a message on a tag that we attached to the bottle. She loved it!
Enjoy your week!

Oh my goodness! Your little bitty diapers with the love notes…bringing back memories!
My friend did the same for me when I had my daughter! It was so cute! I tucked some of them away and have them saved in her baby tub! My daughter is now 10!
Soooo sweet!
