I’m a big believer in keeping things simple.
I’m also a big fan of Rafe Esquith and his classroom.
If you haven’t read this book, go get it. Now. |
So, I made a poster for my rules. I stole them from Rafe.
So, here’s to a new school year.
Be kind. Work hard. Everything else just falls in between the two.

Your poster is so cute, and it says it all, doesn't it? That's really all you need from the kids.

It really is! And, it makes asking them to follow the rules a lot easier! π

I am in love with your site! I just downloaded your "borrowed" rules poster and am planning to send it tonight to Vistaprint to be made into a banner! Thank you so much.
Also, do you have any cute ideas for a reading or writing bulletin board? I teach my reading the same way you do, so I would love to pick your creative brain.

Amy Beth –
Thanks so much! π
I wish I had some creative suggestions for your bulletin boards, but our setup is pretty standard school-wide. I have to leave space for anchor charts, student work and standards on my reading and writing boards. I'm working some ideas around in my head now that you've asked though – so stay tuned! π

PS – LOVE the banner idea. I put in order in myself as soon as I read your comment!! π

Rule of thumb when you're decorating: Surround yourself with what you believe it – I'm gonna put it in a frame for around my desk, kind of like Katie did – NICE! Thanks, Abby, for your creative inspiration.
