“They” are giving me a day off tomorrow.
To do DRAs.
A whole day – just for DRAs.
“They” are even making sure we have help. Our math counterparts, our EIP (Early Intervention Program) and ESOL teachers are helping us too. We’re calling it The DRA Blitz.
Seriously.
The thought of hearing “Busy Helpers” and “Mystery at The Mays’ House” a bajillion times makes me want to poke my eye out with a dirty stick.
And then there’s the thought of someone else doing your DRAs.
Someone that doesn’t know your kids.
Someone whose judgment might not be the same as yours.
BUT.
This is a gift. And I will not complain.
Especially since I even get an hour for lunch.
AND.
We are ordering out.
Wooooo-hooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So today, after school, instead of prepping for Day 10,000 of Remediation for THE RETEST, I wrote sub plans.
Note to self: Write blog post about the nightmare that is Remediation with a Capital R.
I am a little nervous, peeps.
This is either going to be genius or it will backfire in my face.
First, we are going to start with some cutesy. Amy Lemons style.

If you don’t have this, go get it now. It is super cute and super easy. I ran off her templates on cardstock and left step-by-step instructions. It will either be a mess or really cute.
Then I threw together a Think-Tac-Toe board. I wish I used these more often. The kids love them. You know that whole “choice” thing.
What do you think? Should I make more of these? I’m thinking of doing a set for each quarter of the school year according to the Common Core course maps we’re going to follow.
Wish me luck tomorrow! I have 40 kids to do. Not by myself, but it’s not going to be easy either.
PS – Don’t forget – TpT’s sale stops today, but mine will go on all week long!
I'm jealous that you get a whole day to do your DRAs! We have to do them during regular reading workshop time (or whenever we have time!). But, yes, hearing the same. stories. over. and. over. gets very boring!!

I love your think tac toe board. I've used a few and was getting ready to make a new one for my early-finishes with the sub this Friday. You just saved me a step. Thank you!
We are in end-of-the-year benchmark mode. As much as I hate having to be out of the room, I think I'd rather do it in a day and get it over with. It feels like I'll be doing them forever!

I am SOOOO jealous of time to do DRAs (although I'd freak if someone else did my kids.). I love the think tac toe idea! I want to do one too. I'm your newest follower!

Remediation..oohh..it gives me the shivers! Only one more week to go! We finished our DRAs by a wing and a prayer. I don't know how to fit it all in with remediation! But we made it work. Can you give the other "helpers" the kids you feel confident about?
I loved the choice think tic-tac-toe. It would be fab if you (or myself) could do one for the report card and use it as a formative assessment for each part of the report card (likes genres or word problems and so on). Oy, lots of work but the kids would LOVE it! I will have to try the board out next week…
How many more days!???
I love this Think-Tac-Toe! Thanks for sharing!
