We’ve been hard at work in Room 3!
We started our journey into informational writing with a look at procedural writing first.
First, we used The Teacher Wife’s packet for How to Blow a Bubble. My kids loved this! We’re not allowed to chew gum at school, so they loved the “sneakiness” of practicing their bubble blowing skills. {I stood by the door with my trash can at the end of each class to make sure the gum bandits didn’t put it in any unsavory places.}
A few of my girls were very serious about their likenesses…

Can you see the 3-D bangs? |

Look at the new stamp my principal has… Is this not the cutest?? |
After we mastered our blowing bubble gum skills, we used Ginger Snaps’ How to Make a Coke Float packet. We’ve been talking about using specific details, creating engaging beginnings and wrapping it all up with a strong closing. They were so excited to publish today!
It’s not much, but I wanted to share our publishing paper.
What I liked best about both of these units is that we had quality Writer’s Workshop time, everything was fairly inexpensive and the kiddos had so much fun!! Make sure you check out the links to Ginger Snaps and The Teacher Wife for the writing units – they’re both FREE! Leave those ladies some blog lovin’ if you hop over!

I love both of these ideas! I have been struggling with what to do during our writing time so I will have to use both of the ideas you posted!
